Congratulations to our National President – War Widows Guild of Australia – Appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia (General Division) in Queen’s Birthday 2019 Honours List

For significant service to veterans and their families, and to nursing Meg (Margaret) Green has been Appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australian (General Division).

Meg Green joined the War Widows’ Guild of Australia in 2008 following the death of her husband, Gordon, a Vietnam Veteran. With a strong commitment to the service of others, she was appointed as a Member Director of the NSW War Widows’ Guild Board and held the position for 6 years before being elected to the position of National Treasurer, War Widows’ Guild of Australia. Following her time as Treasurer she was elected as the National President of the War Widows’ Guild of Australia in 2014, a position she holds today.

Meg has also had a long and distinguished career in Nursing for 45 years. She had been an active member of the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association during that time.

Meg is honoured to have been appointed as Member of the Order of Australia (AM) on behalf of all War Widows and Nurses. Meg’s two sons, Matthew and Andrew, her daughters-in-law Kathleen and Krystal, and her six grandchildren are very pleased with the recognition of their mother’s and grandmother’s service to others.
